Passion For Fashion Competition Entry

Moneysupermarket.com are hosting an amazing competition for bloggers to create looks with clothes they've been lusting after in order to win up to £1000 and an ipad. So the aim is to create the best looks for 6 different occasion with each look coming in at under £200 (including shoes, coats and accessories) I found creating these looks so addictive and will definitely be doing my outfit posts in the future. Closing date is 12pm today, so I really have left it to the last minute, if anyone wants to still enter be speedy and have fun.

With this look I imagined a walk in the country, most important was comfort and fun like when you're a little kid and your mum lets you wear whatever you want to go play in that day. Comfy warm layers, Boots to jump in puddles with and a backpack to carry your lunch. You might think the white dress a little inappropriate for the outdoors but hey, its easier to get a mud stain out than a red wine stain.

 Boots- £50.00 Socks-£6.00 Cardigan-£40.00 Bag-£20.00 Dress-£42.00 Army Jacket-£17.50 Hat-£17.00 = £192.50

Shopped around for the best bargains for this look, I think I've done well to get this many items for this price, including leather boots and a jacket.

For a first date you need to be comfortable in what you're wearing, have confidence but not look overly done all at the same time. I've mixed the cute pink top and girly coat with the edgier leather look leggings. I think it gets the right balance of smart and casual, and the rose gold hairband complements it perfectly.

Oily Hippie= Perfect Skin

As much as I love makeup, I’ve definitely missed the whole skincare boat, perhaps because Ive never really had too much to complain about when it comes to spots.  All our skin looks better on holiday because we use less products and have the natural goodness of the sun, sea and less pollution. Although I haven’t been too successful in bringing the sun and sea to London I can save my skin from the confusion of hundreds of ingredients.

Olive oil is my favourite weekly/twice a week face treatment, obviously it is completely natural and shockingly works better than anything else I have tried.

You will need:

Extra virgin olive oil
Towel/Flannel
Cotton wool

  1. Pour a ‘50p’ sized amount of oil into your hand and rub between your hands to warm the oil up to body temperature.
  2. Then firmly massage in circular motions onto your face, this remove any dirt/makeup etc. on the skins surface.
  3. Next wet your towel/flannel with hot water  and hold the steaming towel over your face for a minute, this will open your pores and allow the oil to lift any dirt preventing spots and pimples.
  4. Then use dry cotton wool to remove the oil and water.
  5. I will usually do this process again for a deeper cleanse.

Surprisingly this treatment really does not leave your face like a big greaseball, the oil is removed with the steam from the hot towel and just left feeling soft and healthy. However, I wouldn’t use this treatment more than once a week because you do not want to effect the skins natural oil balance.

Topshop Makeup Cherry

There has been a hype around the Topshop makeup since it came out but I had my doubts over what I thought would be a range of novelty products. For the price of a higher end drugstore brands but with the packaging of the cheapest I was never really even tempted to swatch the  testers whilst browsing around Topshop. However, the lipsticks and blushers seemed to have proved themselves in the Youtube and blogging worlds and so I thought I'd try a lipstick out.

I chose 'RioRio' a lovely orange toned red, gorgeous with tanned skin (or faked with bronzer). The formula is far above other drugstore lipsticks, creamy, pigmented and long lasting.

The nail polish 'Ice crush' was purely a magpie buy, it's so pretty and sparkly haha. However, it is more of a topcoat than a nail polish, I would layer it over a mint green or a lilac to add a holographic glitz. I wouldn't necessarily recommend it just because I know that models own do a better silver glitter polish. But oh my god, I know this is going to be an utter bitch to get off my nails.

10 February Favourites

1. Favourite Beauty Product-
Collection 2000 Lasting Colour in Damson Jam (£2.99)
I love the colour! Unfortunately it's not quite showing truthfully in the photo. Its a quite unique cranberry red with pinkish tones. Perfect consistency, perfect brush for streaky free application, perfect shine, great duration. Only down point is the lack of range in boots, I want more Collection 2000 colours to add to my collection!

2. Favourite Clothing Item- Sheer shirt from H&M (£14.99)
I only bought this shirt recently and its fast becoming an easy reach item. I'm worn it on a night out dressed up with some turned up black skinny jeans, heels and an oversized clutch and worn it shopping dressed down with blue skinny jeans, a leather jacket and uggs. I bought this two sizes up so it's extra floaty and summery, I can't wait to wear this with denim shorts and sunglasses.

3. Favourite Trend- Pastels (photo from Zara.com)
Especially the pastel mint green that we've seen popping up everywhere. I refuse to buy into the trend just yet because it's still so cold here in England but as soon as Spring comes I'll be running out to grab all the mint green I can.

4. Favourite Programme- Kourtney & Kim Take New York

Love everything to do with The Kardashians, just the best thing to watch after a long day at work, need I really say anymore.

5. Favourite Song- Hot Right Now- DJ Fresh ft. Rita Ora
Like his last song it has that summer vibe and its getting me excited for this summers festivals (which is just what I need in the cold of February). I've found its the perfect song to keep me going at the gym just when I think I'm about to pass out. Plus how gorgeous is Rita Ora in this video.

6. Favourite Food- Marmite on bagels
Just rediscovered my old hangover cure.

7. Favourite Thing- My new tattoo
Picture taken a few hours after I got it on my blackberry so excuse it looking a bit pink and swollen. Done at Tattoo 13 near Leicester sq, a place I could not recommend enough, I'll definitely be going back there.

8. Favourite Drink- Cranberry juice
Just physically cannot stop drinking it, unfortunately for me it's the worst juice to get addicted to because of all the added sugar but it's just so nice. I've even bought the cranberry Yankee Candle to satisfy my addiction.

My new style icon. That's all.

10. Favourite Item On Wishlist- Bag from Zara (£79.99)
It's absolutely gorgeous, I've been really liking black outfits with contrasting brown bags. It's just so classic and timeless and perfect. BUT i'm in between jobs at the moment so I have to cut back on my spending but as soon as I get myself a job I'll be off to Zara with my first paycheck.

Two Week Coffee Break

Its been a strange past month for me. I've decided to have what I guess is a bit of a spring clean of my life. I've moved back in with the mother, quit the job I detested and ended a relationship. As Spring creeps around the corner I am determined to take control of my life and make 2012 a great year. It may be incredibly cheesy but everyone has to do it at some point.

After nearly two weeks of freedom from the job I'm getting slightly restless. I feel like I'm back in school on summer holidays, I've been loving the freedom but I think it's time to start looking for another job. Counting down the days until I can start my makeup artistry course... just a few more months until I can start on my dream career... bring on summer 2012

Perfume and Pancakes

View IMG00127-20120211-1540.jpg in slide show
As much as I do love my Marc Jacob's Lola the scent just doesn't seem to linger on my skin meaning I'm constantly having to top up throughout the day. Seeing as it was payday weekend I thought I'd pretend I had more money than I actually do and treat myself after a roller coaster week. I've had my eye on 'Couture Couture by Juicy Couture' for a while but never really got around to buying it as I'm not a massive scent spender.  The scent sits on the skin for hours and even gets better throughout the day. I'm also a sucker for juicy Couture's tacky packaging. I'm not going to lie I cannot describe fragrances for the life of me, its definitely very sweet, but that's as far as my attempt goes for describing it.

I also treated myself to Naked Palette 2 after falling in love with the cult first palette. I'll do a full comparison review when I feel I've given the second one a fair chance.

And then to Holborn for giant pancakes, bacon, cheese and chicken for me... so yummy!

I Couldn't Live Without My...

I think you can tell a lot about someone from their makeup collection. So, to introduce my new beauty blog, I've selected my favorite products, those I use every day and couldn’t live without.

So, looking at the picture I realise my attempt to be selective is just pathetic, but I just could not cut the number of products down anymore. These (plus a liquid liner and mascara) are the diamonds of my makeup collection without a doubt.

Products:
1. Urban Decay Naked Palettes
2. Sleek Brow Kit (in dark)
3. Famous by Sue Moxley's Baked Bronze (in Hawaii)
4. Mac's Select Foundation (in NC44)
5. Marc Jacob's Lola
6. Maybelline eyeshadow (in Chocolate Chic)
7.Mac's Lip liner (in Cherry)
8. Korres Lip Butter (in Plum)
